On 22 January, the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy proposed a temporary halt to the ongoing offshore wind park tender. This decision was made because the Ministry wanted to review the offer conditions. This pause ensures that the terms do not negatively affect electricity prices. The Ministry emphasised the need to minimise the impact on the final electricity prices paid by consumers once the tender is implemented.

A draft resolution for this purpose has been prepared and submitted for institutional coordination. Since the tender has already been announced, the Ministry has requested a prompt review, asking for conclusions on the draft resolution to be submitted urgently within three working days of its publication.

After the government decides to resume the tender procedures, the process will restart according to the standards outlined in the Law on Renewable Resources. The selected developer will be responsible for constructing a 700MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea. Bidders must submit their applications and documents to the National Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) by 18 March 2025.
