President Gitanas Nausėda acknowledged Poland’s crucial role in securing the energy independence of the Baltic States. He emphasised the upcoming connection to Western power grids through an electricity link in neighbouring Poland. During his visit to the headquarters of Litgrid, Lithuania’s electricity transmission system operator, on Friday, Nausėda discussed the preparations for synchronisation.
“In terms of synchronisation, Poland’s role has been critically important. Throughout various discussions regarding the model to be used, Poland has always been ready to assist us in implementing the decision, regardless of the approach,” the President told reporters. He stressed that Poland’s moral and technical support has been vital to the project’s success.
When at the headquarters of Litgrid, the President of Lithuania Lithuania declared that his country was fully prepared for a successful synchronisation.
“Today at Litgrid, Lithuania’s grid operator, I concluded my visits to key infrastructure supporting the Baltic region’s synchronisation with continental Europe. I can confirm that we are fully ready for our historic integration with the continental European grid. We have done everything necessary – Lithuania is ready!” the President posted on X.
Nausėda highlighted Lithuania’s other international projects with Poland, including the GIPL strategic gas pipeline and the LitPol Link, an overhead electricity interconnector. The LitPol Link is set to connect the Baltic States to the continental European electricity grid on 9 February.
