A delegation from the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, led by Mr. Norbert Lins (EPP, DE), will visit Romania on 19 – 21 June.
During the mission, MEPs will meet national and local authorities, local action groups as well as farmers and dairy and wine producers to discuss recent developments in agriculture in Romania and topics such as the situation in the cereal sector and animal welfare.
Ahead of the mission, Mr. Norbert Lins, Chair of the Agriculture Committee, said: “We are off to Romania (next week), one of Europe’s biggest agricultural producers. Our destination, Transylvania, is home to a huge variety of cultural landscapes and is one of the most biodiverse regions in Europe. Transylvania is a leading example that agriculture and biodiversity go hand in hand. I am therefore looking forward visiting farms across sectors from dairy and livestock, fruit and vegetables, as well as wine and exchanging views and visions on the future of European agriculture.”
Besides Mr Lins, the delegation will include 8 other MEPs: Herbert Dorfmann (EPP, IT), Tom Vandenkendelaere (EPP, NL), Juozas Olekas (S&D, LT), Jérémy Decerle (Renew, FR), Sarah Wiener (Greens/EFA, AT), Bronis Ropė (Greens/EFA, LT), Daniel Buda (EPP, RO), Dacian Cioloş (Renew, RO).
