President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria Alexander Schallenberg and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavský.
The Head of State thanked Austria and the Czech Republic for supporting the decision to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for accession to the European Union.
“This is a powerful support. We have a lot of work ahead regarding the important things that European society, the European Council, and the European Commission advise us,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President expressed confidence that Ukraine will meet all the requirements for EU membership.
“I would really like to open a new page in the life of Ukraine as a full member of the European Union. And this new page is the beginning of a dialogue regarding the accession to the European Union,” the Head of State emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine counts on the support of the Czech Republic given the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The President thanked Austria and the Czech Republic for helping Ukraine during a full-scale Russian invasion.
“I would like to thank you for the attitude of your societies and governments to supporting our people, Ukrainians, especially forcibly displaced persons, women, and children. I am grateful to you for the warm welcome and help you provide to them,” the Head of State said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for the powerful defense support and thanked Austria for the humanitarian aid, in particular the provision of ambulance vehicles and fire trucks.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, the three parts “focused on further sanctions, arms deliveries, accountability for Russian war crimes, and support for Ukraine’s economy.”
“I am grateful for their solidarity and confidence in Ukraine’s victor,” wrote the Minister on his Twitter account.
“Always glad to meet my Ukrainian counterpart @DmytroKuleba. We talked about the military situation in the country and our further support. I invited Dmytro to Prague in August. Ukraine now has the candidate status, let’s see how we can assist as the EU Presidency!” tweeted Jan Lipavský.
The Austrian Minister Schallenberg wrote on his Twitter account: “Devastating to see what #Russia‘s brutal war of aggression has been doing to this beautiful country and its people. We will continue to #StandWithUkraine.”
“None of us could have imagined today’s bitter reality of inhumane atrocities and bloodshed on our doorstep. Today in #Kyiv I re-assured my friend @DmytroKuleba of our steadfast support and our unwavering solidarity in the face of Russian aggression.”
