The European Council has adopted a decision to extend the mandate of the EU Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA) for an additional two years, until August 7, 2026. The budget allocation for this period is over €24 million.
Invited by the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM RCA) was established by the European Council in December 2019 and deployed in July 2020 in Bangui. In July 2022, the Council extended the mission’s mandate until August 9, 2024.
EUAM RCA aims to support reforming internal security forces, enabling the Central African Republic authorities to address security challenges effectively. This will improve the security situation for the population, contribute to the country’s development, and achieve sustainable peace.
The mission promotes the establishment of efficient and accountable security providers under the principle of full national ownership. EUAM RCA is a civilian advisory mission and is one of thirteen key missions deployed by the European Union under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) framework. These missions highlight the EU’s strong commitment to enhancing stability and security in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
