The United States and Czech Republic renewed their Strategic Dialogue and reiterated their commitment in support of Ukraine against Russia at a meeting in Washington DC on May 2 between US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Czech foreign minister Jan Lipavský.
The two countries agree on continued support for Ukraine and its war effort against the Russian invasion. Both countries will keep coordinating to enforce sanctions against Russia as a tool to limit Russia intervention in Ukraine. The Czech Republic also spoke about diversifying its energy sources, in order to lower Russian dependence and its income from oil sales.
In addition, they will discuss with other allies to start holding Belarus and its president Alexander Lukashenka more accountable for the role the country is playing in helping Russia.
This was the 11th round of Strategic Dialogue between Czech Republic and US. The two countries underlined the importance of NATO and its unity to help with security in the region, especially on the Eastern border of the alliance and welcomed the entrance of Finland. They expressed hope that Sweden will follow swiftly.
