Today Dimitris Christofias, former President of the Republic of Cyprus and leader of the left AKEL party passed away.
“The Left has lost a great leader today,” said GUE/NGL President Gabi Zimmer.
“Dimitris Christofias was a long-standing, tireless, and determined organiser, activist, and elected representative for our values in Cyprus and beyond. He will be dearly missed by us and especially by his comrades in the AKEL party which he served as General Secretary from 1988 until 2009,” added Zimmer.
