Simplifying the provision of services for SMEs in the Single Market is one of the most important priorities of the EPP Group. However, the Commission proposal establishing a European Services e-card and the related administrative facilities did not fully meet these expectations and was rejected on March 21 by the European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee.
Andreas Schwab MEP, the EPP Group Spokesman in this Committee, was ready to work on the details despite that the proposal’s intentions to lift the administrative and regulatory barriers for service providers going cross-border were limited in coverage and lacked necessary clarity.
“Cross-border businesses normally work as a team – often a self-employed person with workers. For all of them, we need flexible, controllable rules that allow them to go together to another EU country. Therefore, we call on the Commission to present an improved proposal in coordination with the proposal of the European Labour Authority”, concluded Schwab.
