On its 4 May press conference, the Estonian government announced that it had approved a draft agreement on establishing a Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine at the Council of Europe.
The aim of the agreement is to establish a register for converging, analysing and preserving evidence about the damages caused by Russia and damage claims in Ukraine after 24 February 2022.
“Estonia has been actively advocating for ensuring the war crimes and the crime of aggression committed in Ukraine are punished and for filing monetary claims against the Russian aggressors,” Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna underlined.
The agreement on establishing the register will be signed soon in Strasbourg at the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
