The meeting with Foreign Minister Billström covered the ratification of Sweden’s NATO accession as quickly as possible and supporting Ukraine in joining the Alliance.
“I hope that by the July summit in Vilnius, Sweden is a member of NATO. At the summit, we must certainly highlight Ukraine’s accession and future,” Tsahkna said.
They also discussed further military and political support to Ukraine. Both foreign ministers noted that Ukraine must be given full support until the war has been won and Russia is defeated.
The discussion on the visionary report concentrated on economic cooperation between Estonia and Sweden in digitalisation, the climate, energy policy and sustainable forestry. “The report serves as a good basis for setting priorities for the future and further boosting our economic relations. The report also clearly showed that while Estonia and Sweden are currently solid partners in several areas, there are still opportunities for closer and more substantial productive cooperation,” Tsahkna said.
The visionary report analyses relations between Estonia and Sweden and new cooperation possibilities in the next 10-15 years.
