From 19 to 23 June, the four-member delegation will visit Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. They are expected to discuss digitalisation with the Minister of Economy and Industry and talk about free movement of goods and services with the representatives of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Knesset.
The MEPs will analyse consumer protection with Israel’s Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority, focus on artificial intelligence with the Innovation Authority and EIT Hub and learn about the country’s experiences with digitalising customs control from the Israeli Customs Authority.
The delegation will also visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy and Industry, meet with several business representatives and pay a visit to the World Holocaust Remembrance Centre.
The planned discussions will revolve around digital sector, namely artificial intelligence, online platforms, e-government and the cloud, given Israel’s achievements in these areas. MEPs also intend to learn more about the country’s experiences with standardisation, e-commerce, consumer protection, fight against disinformation and online ads as well as explore opportunities for EU companies.
The delegation will be led by Róża Thun Und Hohenstein (Renew, PL) and she will be accompanied by Antonius Manders (EPP, NL), Marc Angel (S&D, LU) and Beata Mazurek (ECR, PL).
