Relations with the European Commission are particularly important now that Italy is facing political uncertainty after an inconclusive general election earlier this month, according to Premier Paolo Gentiloni.
“Precisely in such a particular phase of Italian affairs, in these weeks of transition, it is important to maintain a relationship with the European Commission,” Gentiloni said on his way to the EU summit in Brussels on March 22.
As reported by the Italian news agency ANSA, Gentiloni said this was why he was now going to see European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. The two men planned to meet on the sidelines of the summit.
