Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella has warned against Euroskepticism. “It would be a mistake to give over to 19th-century anti-European formulas on a path that has become difficult to resolve the problems of the 21st century,” he said during The State of the Union conference in Florence on May 10.
He called on Italians to reject “a sovereignty narrative that is ready to propose solutions that are as seductive as they are inapplicable”.
