On 5 June 2023, the annual political consultations between Latvia and Armenia took place, at which Latvia was represented by the Under-Secretary of State – Political Director, Andžejs Viļumsons, and Armenia by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paruyr Hovhannisyan.
The consultations focused on the development of bilateral cooperation, cooperation in international organisations, including the Latvian Presidency of the Council of Europe and Latvia’s candidacy for the UN Security Council elections, and the dialogue between the European Union and Armenia. The parties also discussed topical international issues, including the situation in the South Caucasus region and Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The officials welcomed the successful cooperation in bilateral relations and stressed the need to further develop political dialogue and economic cooperation between Latvia and Armenia.
The previous political consultations between the two countries took place on 14 June 2022 in Yerevan.
