The distribution of European Union subsidies to Ukraine is in question. When the EU gives money for maintenance and development, does the state use the funds efficiently? This question is particularly pertinent in the agricultural sector.
This will be the subject of a roundtable discussion in the European Parliament on March 7 (13.00hrs – 15.00 hrs, Conference Room A5F385).
The discussion will be led by MEPs Fulvio Martusciello (Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs) and Alberto Cirio (Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development).
MEPs will discuss what happens when the subsidies are not enough for all participants in the sector and whether funds should be allocated to those who need them more, particularly small and medium-sized companies.
The distribution of subsidies in Ukraine appears to be opaque and in this there is opportunity for corruption, according to the MEPs initiating the discussion in the European Parliament.
