MEPs travel to Hessen, Germany, to investigate youth welfare policy

A group of MEPs from the Committee on Petitions will travel to Wiesbaden, Frankfurt and Hanau in Germany to investigate judicial proceedings in cross-border family cases.

Several petitions, including 1506/2016 and 538/2021, have highlighted concerns about cross-border custody proceedings involving EU nationals in Germany.

During their visit from 3 to 4 November, MEPs will meet with petitioners and visit the Justice and Social Affairs Ministries of the state of Hessen, the Family Courts of Wiesbaden and Hanau, and the Youth Welfare Offices of Wiesbaden and Frankfurt.
