Minister Sikorski strengthens Poland’s relations with Singapore

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski started visiting Southeast Asian countries on Monday, with Singapore being his first stop. The Polish minister met with his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, to discuss and strengthen bilateral relations in security and the economy. They also talked about global issues and the situation in Ukraine. Deputy Defence Minister Paweł Zalewski and Deputy Agriculture Minister Michał Kołodziejczak accompany Minister Sikorski during his four-day visit.

On Instagram, Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan mentioned that the two countries reaffirmed their strong relations. He emphasised the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement and expected a significant increase in Polish products, especially food, in Singapore. Sikorski also met with Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Han to discuss security in Europe, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Later, the minister met with the Polish diaspora in Singapore, highlighting the 55th anniversary of Poland-Singapore diplomatic relations. In the upcoming days, Sikorski will visit Malaysia and the Philippines.
