Hosting environment ministers from around the world for a UN conference on climate, currently being held in Katowice, southern Poland, the country announced a big investment in electromobility.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki posted on Twitter on December 10: “Over the next 10 years, we intend to allocate at least €3bn for this purpose, to develop research projects that will translate into increased innovation and air quality.”
Speaking at the official opening of the summit, Polish President Andrzej Duda said his country was “ready to take its share of responsibility for international security,” including in terms of climate policy.
As reported by Radio Poland online, the Polish government aims to have 1 million electric vehicles on the country’s roads by 2025.
The 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, also known as COP24, officially opened in Katowice last week. It runs until December 14.
