More Scottish citizens envisage Independence according to a poll issued by Lord Michael Ashcroft, a former deputy chairman of the Conservatives.

A 46% of the 1,019 questioned citizens declared they should vote for Independence in an eventual new referendum while 43% said are against such a perspective.

“I found a small majority in favor of a new vote – and the first lead for an independent Scotland for more than two years,” Ashcroft said reports Reuters.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid a visit to Edinburgh last week.

In the 2014 referendum a 55% of Scots voted against Independence while in the 2016 Brexit referendum Scotland voted to stay in the EU.

The Scottish National Party (SNP), which rules Edinburgh’s government supports a second independence referendum since Scotland is against leaving the European bloc.
