Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed a new strategic partnership between Sweden and Poland. This partnership aims to strengthen cooperation in security and defence, innovation, and competitiveness.
“Closer cooperation on security and defence in a broad sense is the foundation of the renewed strategic partnership between Sweden and Poland. We intend to work jointly to strengthen security in the Baltic Sea region and address Russia’s threat,” said Swedish PM Kristersson.
Throughout the day, Kristersson and Tusk held bilateral talks on various topics, including the EU agenda ahead of Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2025 and current security issues, particularly ongoing support for Ukraine.
Business representatives also participated in discussions on enhancing European competitiveness, particularly concerning the defence industry and the green and digital transitions. PM Tusk has been invited as a guest to the Nordic-Baltic Summit at Harpsund on November 27–28.
