As of 1 January 2025, the Republic of Korea officially joins Horizon Europe, creating new opportunities for researchers and enhancing collaborative potential. Under a transitional arrangement, the European Union invites researchers and organisations from the Republic of Korea to participate in the calls and activities of Pillar II of the Horizon Europe programme, starting with the 2025 Work Programme.
This transitional arrangement comes after successful negotiations between the European Commission and the Government of the Republic of Korea concerning Pillar II of the Horizon Europe programme.
The formal signing of the Association Agreement is expected to take place in 2025, pending the completion of all necessary validations from both sides.
Details of the transitional arrangement are outlined in the General Annexes and apply to legal entities established in the Republic of Korea, as its association with the programme is considered imminent.
