Poland’s largest energy company, PGE, is set to build an offshore wind farm on the Baltic Sea, and has 13 international companies interested to join this new venture.
As reported by Radio Poland, the undertaking would be one of the largest ever in Poland’s energy sector.
EDPR, Eneco, E.ON, Oersted, and ScottishPower Renewables were named by the Polish news agency PAP as several of PGE’s possible future partners.
PGE is to choose its business partner by the end of 2019, according to PAP.
The new offshore wind farm would have a total capacity of 2,545 MW and supply up to 4 million households with electricity, the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reported last month.
The new Polish wind farm turbines are expected to be launched around 2025, PAP reported.
At the moment nearly 80 percent of Poland’s power comes from coal.
